Lantern/gazebo Box-VIDEO & cut files

A cut file for this box was requested on the cricut message board yesterday.  This is what I came up with.  The first picture is NOT my work-it was the inspiration photo.  The second picture is of the basic cutouts using the files I created.  I have not done anything with them, they were just test cuts.  There are 4 ds files, (I remembered the baby bug!) and one scal file.
The video had to be split- I talked too much and exceeded the 10 minute limit.  The second part is very short, maybe a minute.  Sorry!!!
Please show me pics of your creations-I love to see how creative you all are.

IF YOU WANT TO DELETE THE WINDOW CUTOUTS-click on the rectangle to select the panel, then hit backspace.  I put the rectangle and window in the same selection box to make the design process simpler, so this is how to delete the windows.  You can't just select it and click delete.  That would eliminate both shapes.

I'm trying to come up with some way to use these at each place setting for Thanksgiving dinner - maybe with battery tea lites! I'll take pictures as soon as I figure it out!

WOW these are so wonderful. Thank you for your hard work and valuable time. After I seen the video i was excited about making one but when i went to cut it, it asked for George Shape and I don't have that cartridge and the scal file didn't work either. Can you email me with a subsitute shape for the ones you cut in George, I do have Plantin School and I have SCAL I just don't know how to alternate it. Thanks again for your hard work and valuable time. My email address is apriljackson3@yahoo.com

Denise Hill said...

What a fantastic job you did in both the creation and the explanation! I do not have the program to be able to open your files is there another format you may be able to share them in?
Thanks

Good morning Denise
I was looking at the lantern/gazebo cuts that you posted in 2009 in answer to a cricut question. I am new to cricut and I am early waiting for my Christmas Theme cartridges. I have downloaded your files. Do I need a specific cartridge for the lantern itself. I hope that it is not a silly question but I have searched everywhere and can not find the answer.
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give.

Denise Hill said...

Elle,

I used the George and basic shapes cartridge to create the file, and you will need that cartridge to cut the file. And no, it is not a silly question! You will also need design studio to cut the file, which is cricut software. I am not sure if the new cricut "craft room" allows you to cut files or not. I no longer am a supporter of cricut products, so I haven't kept up with their new stuff. I am a sure cuts a lot user, and cricut no longer allows that software to be used with their machine. So my next machine will not be a cricut, since I do not like to be limited to just cutting with cartidges. I have my eye on a black cat lynx....:0)
