More Tiles

I did more of this tile.  I love the 6 x 6,  but it was a pain to weed!!!  I posted these because I wanted to show how I finished them.  I cut thin strips of vinyl to wrap the edges, applied adhesive cork to the backs, and used shank buttons to string the ribbon.  Click for closer view

The download is no longer available from me.  I didn't know it was a copyrighted file.  It is available from simply said llc.

Twist Top Box

I saw this box at dawnsstampinthoughts.typepad.com and decided to make a cut file.  There was a lot of scoring and I'm a lazy crafter, so the file does the work for me.  It's done with plantin schoolbook. It is tricky getting it to close the first couple of times, but then it gets easier.  There are two sizes in the file.  I filled the larger one with lottery tickets for my brother-in-law.

All hearts come home file has been removed

I just received notification from 4shared that this file is breaking their terms of use policy and contains illegal information.  Apparently the file is from simply said llc, and they have filed a complaint.  I want to apologize to them-I had no idea it was their file.  I got it from someone else, and when they received too many e-mail requests they asked me to post a link.  I would not have done it had I known there were copyright issues.  Once again, I apologize to all involved.

My Son's hard hat!!!!

This is the hard hat he got when he worked on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.  It was plain white.  He started asking me questions about what I could cut with vinyl.  The next thing I know he is showing me logos on the computer and asking me if the cricut could cut them.  We used scal to do it.  I told him all these companys should be paying him for the free advertising.  I found the whole thing very funny.  He said the guys at work are jealous!!! Oh, and his name isn't Skip-that's just what they call him. He's one of the youngest guys with the company.

Cake in a Box

Here is my version.  I do not like how this turned out.  It looks like a combination wedding/baby shower box, and it's for a birthday!!!!!  I do however, like the idea, and the way it comes together.  I just need to use different paper.  I didn't have much on hand, so I used what I had.  I figured I should show the flops along with the one's I like.

Gingerbread House Box

I know, I know, another box!  I couldn't help myself!  This is a fairly large box- about 5 1/2 x 4 x  6 1/2 tall.  I made my box with the scal 2 file, and then made the ds (george) file.  I used the ds file in the video, just to make sure it worked!   The download links are at the bottom of this post, before the video.

Christmas Tile Video-

I got this file (it's an svg) from Jeannie on the cricut mb.  Her mb name is kidzanangel7.  She does beautiful plaques, and is very generous with her files!  I love everything about this-the saying and the graphics.  I will be making more!  The tile is a smooth ceramic tile from Home Depot, 11 1/2 x 11 1/2.  I still need to cover the edges with narrow ribbon, add a ribbon hanger, and cover the back with paper.

Thanksgiving Invites

These are my invitations for Thanksgiving dinner.  We are NOT the kind of family that uses formal invites for anything.  Usually an e-mail or phone call is it.  However, this year my mother has been pestering me constantly about dinner, SO, this is my smart-aleck response!!  My mom and 2 brothers and their families, will be receiving this in the mail.  They will all get a big kick out of it.  It was fun for me, anyway!

Lantern/gazebo Box-VIDEO & cut files

A cut file for this box was requested on the cricut message board yesterday.  This is what I came up with.  The first picture is NOT my work-it was the inspiration photo.  The second picture is of the basic cutouts using the files I created.  I have not done anything with them, they were just test cuts.  There are 4 ds files, (I remembered the baby bug!) and one scal file.
The video had to be split- I talked too much and exceeded the 10 minute limit.  The second part is very short, maybe a minute.  Sorry!!!
Please show me pics of your creations-I love to see how creative you all are.

IF YOU WANT TO DELETE THE WINDOW CUTOUTS-click on the rectangle to select the panel, then hit backspace.  I put the rectangle and window in the same selection box to make the design process simpler, so this is how to delete the windows.  You can't just select it and click delete.  That would eliminate both shapes.

Marching Band Update

WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There were 8 bands in our class (SS1) and we finished first!  I can't believe it.  So many years I've been sure we won only to finish 2 or 3.  I didn't even get my hopes up last night.  Due to some very selfish adults with personal ajendas, our band has had 2 very tough seasons.  Those kids kept their heads high through it all, and continued to pour their heart and soul into it, and they so deserve this victory.  I am so very proud of each and every one of them.  What an amazing group of young people!!!

"DOME" Buckets

Here are the goody buckets we did for the flute section.  Marching Band championship competition is today at the Syracuse Dome.  We had our family breakfast at school this morning.  My daughter handed out the paint cans-they were a huge success-the envy of the band!  The kids left after breakfast, and we will be on our way in about an hour.  It's a 2 hour drive, and our band competes at 7pm.  It will be a very late night.  It's sad, my oldest daughters last field show ever.  I may shed a few tears!!!!!

It was hard to get a good picture.  The cans a re frosted silver with shiny polka dots.  They look black in the pics.  The names a silver glitter.  We cut the tags using a stencil font, and then applied clear backing tape to the back side, and then pressed theminto glitter.  It worked great!  Then we sprayed them with sealer so the bus wouldn't be covered with glitter.

Family Wordbook cut files

Photo Tiles

These are photo tiles I did for each of the girls in the band flute section.  I had a hard time keeping the ink from bleeding.  I tried every suggestion I got!  No matter what I did, if I put mod podge on top of the photo, the colors would bleed.  What I finally did was use mod podge to apply the photo to the tile (printed on tissue paper) and then just used several coats of acrylic sealer on top.  I also coated the tissue paper photos with a light coat of sealer, BEFORE I adhered them to the tile.   The first few I did had a lot of wrinkles in them, but I got better as I went along.  These were smooth ceramic tiles I had.  I think it might have worked better with stone tiles too.  It was definitely a learning experience!!!!

Double Slider Album-slider fix and tips

I couple people have e-mailed about problems with the slider panel.  I've been trying a few things to make it work smoother, and here is what I have come up with.

Heavy cardstock works best.  The thinner the cardstock, the more issiues I have  noticed.  To solve the problem, I have added a chipboard support strip. (cereal box!!)  See Picture.  You may even want to go 4" wide with it.

Then center your plastic strip over this, following video instructions.  Make sure you adhere your plastic strip on the bottom edge, this is important!  You don't want the overlap piece to have to travel over the edge of the paper.  With the chipboard support, I was able to use a strip of page protector instead of plastic bag, and it worked.

I alos recommend putting a rbbon pull at the top and bottom of each slider panel to aid in opening and closing.  It makes it much easier to open and close.  Also keep your slide out panels simple, so there aren't embellishments to snag as it opens and closes.
Hope this helps!!!!!
