"El Cheapo" Clip it Up!!!!

I went to walmart the other morning with the intention of purchasing the items to make a clip it up using a paper towel holder.  I had seen two different versions, and was willing to go with either, depending on what I found.  One used 3 binder rings with page protectors and you slid it over the center of a paper towel holder.  The other used a lampshade ring screwed to the top of the paper towel holder.  Needless to say, my Walmart did not have the correct style of paper towel holder.

This is my alternative.  It sure takes up a lot less space, and does the same thing.
I started with these name badge clips.  They were $1.88 for 12.  I only bought one package, but will be getting more.

I purchased a cafe rod, but the diameter was too large.  I found an old 1/4" wooden dowel, hung it between 2 cup hooks screwed to the bottom of may cabinet, and added the id badges.  My own clip it up for less than $2!!!  I have been printing my digital paper and storing it in 81/2 x 11 page protectors and keeping them in a drawer.  I now have them hanging up within reach.  I think I will add at least 12 more, since there is still plenty of room.

I love your idea, thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of "building" a new scrap room and will take all the storage ideas I can get.

Looks a lot like the one that I made except I used a metal rod, and binder rings. Super cheap and effective!

Hi Liza. I print my own patterned paper all the time. I started out at shabbyprincess.com. They have a lot of beautiful FREE digital paper packs. I also purchase from letteringdelights.com. Packs are usually $2. Funkyhand.com has reasonably priced downloads also. I just do searches periodically for digital scrapbook paper. There is a lot out there. Then I use an old graphics program I have to print them. Its printshop 22, and it has the option to print up to 12 x 12 borderless. I usually just do borderless 8 1/2 x 11. I use the georgia pacific cardstock from walmart. Did I answer your questions? I probably bored you to death!!!!!

Hi! I have the paper towel set up using 3 rings and slipping over the paper towel rod. Don't like it at all. Your idea is much better and I will be putting one together soon. Thanks for sharing!

Very ingenious! If I had the space, I'd love something like this. I went w/ the paper towel holder one. :-)

THank you for sharing your ideas. I like it that you are so frugal - it tickles my bones to know some one else out there is as frugal as me! I hope to garner some good tips from you. (Have to comment anonymously, for some reason I can't sign in tonight to google acct).

Oh wow!! I never though to use the badge clips! So much cheeper. I have my scrap room in the attic and there is no walls, so I took pressure rods and put them between the rafters, then hung curtian hooks from them, but they are $5 for 12, $2 is much better. I think Walmart is on my list of places to go today.
